Exciting news... Our quarterly statistics are now available! According to our database, 58 million gold worth of items have been traded via this website up until 31 May 2009. What is even more thrilling is that 53 million of this amount has been traded in only the last 3 months! This is a new record for our now fast growing website and we are absolutely thrilled at the result! Further analysis of statistics are still indicating that we have vast majority of buyers compared to sellers. Many visitors are spending longer on the website, on average 20-30 minutes each visit, but most appear to visit for buying purposes only, so we encourage new members to take advantage of this and get busy listing. Category maintenance... Some category maintenance has been performed this month to include categories for additional minipets and weapons now available from opening Gifts of the Traveler. |

Security... As always, we are pleased to be able to offfer the highest level of security available to ensure your experience with us is both reliable and safe. One of the key decisions we have made to ensure our security remains at the highest level, is to remove all third party generated media advertising from this website, including Google. Recent issues regarding other Guild Wars related fansites have demonstrated that the inclusion of extensive advertising, including pop-ups and embeded code, can be both intrusive and unsafe to users. We would like to take this opportunity to offer our absolute assurance that the administrators of this website have no intention of bombarding our users with such advertising. Your safety is as important to us as our own. New moderator... From time to time we send invitations to active members of the website, with a helpful manner and good feedback, to join the moderator team. It is with great pleasure that this month we welcome Justified Soul to our moderator team. Site Re-Launch... After a considerable amount of work from our developer and design team over the 1st and 2nd of April, the website has been relaunched this month to the community with a fancy new look and feel. We're all extremely pleased with the results and would like to offer our thanks to Possum and Kris for their outstanding efforts in the early days of this month. You can read more about the website relaunch in the official press release on Myspace, or on the official Guild Wars community news page. New Features... You will see a few new features available within the User Account area starting this month. In particular sellers now have the ability to create a customised Affiliate page to display your listings to your friends, including a banner image and comments about yourself.
Another new feature that has everyone buzzing this month is the Listing Filters area of the My Account menu. Listing Filters allow you to ask the website to send you an automated email as soon as a listing is made that meets the criteria of something you are looking for. This feature makes it easier to learn about good deals before other buyers do. Another key feature this month is the addition of our Online Store, where you can buy almost anything to do with Guild Wars. Everything from box sets, keyboards, special mouse mats, to a specially designed gamers hand glove can be found in our online store. Be sure to check it out! |

Get voting... A decision was made last month among our key sponsors to plan an organised voting spree on the Extreme Top 100 as soon as the counter reset for this month. We dearly hope to reach the number one position this month, which will be a first for our site since it's creation. Please join us in our efforts this month and vote as often as you visit. Members and visitors alike can vote every twelve hours by following the vote now link on the front page. We would like to thank everyone in advance for your support! Seller news... This month we urge sellers to take the time to understand the auction process. In particular, you can only edit the content of a listing you make up until the first bid is placed. After someone places a bid against your listing, the auction becomes "locked" to ensure critical information is not changed after someone has bid. If you have made a significant error with a listing and wish to cancel or restart it, you may submit a support ticket to our moderator staff. They will review your case on an individual basis and help you with any honest mistakes you may have made.

Seller news... Our site statistics to-date indicate that 78% of our registered members visit the site daily to buy things using a "Buy Now" option. These 78% of members are buying items from the other 22% of our members. This indicates that we have a huge amount of buyers who want to spend their game money, but not enough people offering the goods! The statistics show that 4.5 million gold worth of items have been traded through the site over the past 3 months. Almost 3 million of those sales were over the January/February period. This tells us we have some very active buyers who have joined over the Christmas and New Year period. Remember, these buyers cannot bid if you don't list so get started today! Clean out your storage chest, and make yourself some easy money. You lose nothing by trying. Buyer news... If you don't meet a sellers reserve price with your first bid, it is now possible to bid against yourself until the reserve value is met. Previously you had to wait until someone else placed a bid against you. Proxy bids apply when doing this, so please keep this in mind when you are bidding against yourself. Logos & banners... Our graphic designer, Possum, has created some wonderful new banners and logos. These are available for our sponsors and supporters to use on their web page or forum as a means of linking back to us. There are many shapes and sizes to choose from, all of which can be viewed here. Hotlinking to these images is permitted, however (due to hotlink protection on our server) you will need to ask for permission to hotlink to us by raising a support ticket.

Following a suggestion made by an active user, we have placed some additional links on the right hand side of the front page called "Quick Links". These links are intended to make it easier to find key information about the website as well as Guild Wars itself. Christmas competition results... The results of the December 2008 "Listing Lunacy!" competition were obtained from our database on 1 January 2009. Please join us in congratulating the winner of the competition. Christmas competition... To perk up activity over the Christmas period, we have decided to host a listing competition called "Listing Lunacy!" The winner of the competition will win 20,000 in game gold, delivered directly in-game. All you need to do to win is place the largest number of valid listings on the site between 1 December and 31 December 2008. Please note: A valid listing excludes re-listing of recently expired listings. Multiple listings for identical items will be counted as one single listing. 500th member... We decided, quite out of the blue, to celebrate reaching 500 members in early December 2008. To mark the occaision, we gave away a free gold, undedicated, miniature ceretadon to the member moments after he confirmed his registration. Congratulations go to the user Justified Soul. Our marketing strategy... A few people have raised support tickets this month asking why we have not listed ourselves on the official Guild Wars website, so we thought we should share a few of our reasons for not doing this. The Guild Wars Auctions website continues to grow slowly as we, and our sponsors, work to spread the word in-game and via targeted broadcasting on Blade Radio. This direct method of advertising has been chosen to avoid attracting masses of unknown users who do not understand or appreciate the auction process. We believe this maintains a more enjoyable trading environment for everyone and allows us to deliver a more personalised service to guild and alliance sponsors. |

Buyer news... This month we urge new buyers to take the time to understand how a proxy bidding system works with standard auctions. In short, each bid you place sets a "limit" for how high you are willing to go to bid against other buyers who are also trying to win the listing. After you set your limit, the system will bid "for you" against other buyers, until your limit is reached. For example, if a listing has a minimum bid of 5,000 gold and you bid 8,000 gold, the system will only bid 5,000 gold initially. If nobody bids against you, and the reserve price is met, you will win the listing at 5,000 gold. However, if other people bid against you while you aren't watching, the system will fight back on your behalf and keep bidding "for" you until it reaches your limit of 8,000 gold. Proxy bidding systems are considered excellent for auction sites. It means buyers don't need to constantly sit and watch their active bids or worry about "auction sharks" out bidding them at the last minute. Let the system do the bidding for you! Technical... Following a suggestion made by an active user, we fixed a bug that allowed users to register with the same username and password. |

Rocky Horror Show comes to Guild Wars... To celebrate Halloween, we are very pleased to be sponsoring the "Rocky Horror Show" event being held in Guild Wars over Halloween 2008. All the halloween costume creations, including special decorations for Lions Arch and Kamadan, have been hand made by our very own graphic designer, Possum. In addition to the listed costumes, those running the file will also have the chance to win 5k each time they spot one of the secret host costumes in-game. Hosts to watch out for are Goose (a scottish, kilt wearing, transvestite warrior, in pink stockings), Pepper (a horrifying zombie monk), Badger (an Elementalist with a badger body and head), Bunny (an Elementalist in a full playboy bunny outfit, including ears and a tail), and Possum (a mesmer in a raunchy hooker outfit). The costumes are absolutely amazing and are unbelievable to wear in-game. Our moderator team look utterly ridiculous, it's fantastic. Buyer news... Following a suggestion made by an active user, we have set listings to continue to display the "Buy Now" option up until the sellers reserve value is met. This will ensure more listings contain the "Buy Now" option, which our database indicates is the preferred option for our registered users. Seller news... Following a suggestion made by an active user, we have established an Affiliate page system within our site software. This means you can now share a link with your friends to show them to a list of only your "current listings". To find out what your "current listings" link is, simply sign in and click "My Info" from the top menu bar.

Site launch... We are so very pleased to be able to launch the auction site this month, in a private launch with our primary sponsor The Guilds of the [KISS] Alliance! After hours of building, testing, and attempting to break things (in a controlled manner of course) we can finally deliver something we are sure will bring many hours of enjoyable trading in the weeks/months to come.
